Sky Sports have claimed that the Blues are close to agreeing a £20m move for the 22-year-old.
Town’s interest in Fatawu was revealed last week, with subsequent stories explaining that a bid was rejected on Friday, with the two clubs locked in negotiations to try and thrash out a deal.
Links to Everton emerged yesterday, saying that the 32-cap Ghana international had agreed terms to move to Merseyside, but it now looks like his next destination will be Portman Road. West Ham and Besiktas were also said to be interested.
Fatawu moved to England from Sporting CP in 2023, joining the Foxes on an initial loan deal that was made permanent after they secured promotion from the Championship to the Premier League.

He stuck with them back in the second tier last season, notching nine goals and seven assists, scoring against Ipswich from inside his own half at the King Power Stadium back in December. In the end, he couldn’t help Leicester avoid relegation to League One.
Ipswich are also believed to be close to completing a deal for FC Volendam goalkeeper Kayne van Oevelen , with discussions also ongoing to sign fellow Dutch shot-stopper Kjell Scherpen from Union SG.
Meanwhile, the Blues are in talks with free-agent Japanese midfielder Hidemasa Morita as well.
