A McDonald’s branch has reopened after undergoing a major revamp.

The fast-food chain’s location on the Medway City Estate, in Strood, opened its doors again today (July 21).

There is now a dedicated courier waiting area and entrance, aiming to reduce congestion in the dining area.

In addition, the kitchen has been redesigned to have a bigger order assembly area and dedicated areas to prepare dine in orders. The front counter has also been redesigned.

Break spaces for staff members have also been improved.

Franchisee Gian Chahal, who owns and operates branch, said: “I’m proud to reinvest in our Medway City Estate restaurant.

“The dining area is more contemporary, and we now have separate facilities for our dine-in customers and our couriers leading to a better experience for everyone.

“It’s exciting to see the fresh new look and feel of our Medway City Estate restaurant and I’m confident the changes will not only benefit our customers but also our restaurant team as these will help make their jobs a little easier.”

The nearby Shell Co-op service station is also due to reopen tomorrow (July 23), after undergoing a refurbishment.

New facilities include a car wash, two jet wash bays, an on-site launderette, parcel lockers, customer toilets with baby changing facilities and an ATM.

To celebrate the reopening, it will be offering free coffee to its first 100 customers each day between 7am and 11am, from Wednesday until August 9.
