The 3M Open is, believe it or not, the third-to-last event of the PGA Tour’s 2026 regular season. In Round 1, Scottie Scheffler produced one of his better putting performances in a while, Ben Kohles posted his best score ever and rookie Jackson Koivun is making the oddsmakers look pretty smart (so far).
Round 2 is now in the books at TPC Twin Cities north of Minneapolis and it was one for the ages as Michael Kim posted the PGA Tour’s 16th sub-60 round. Get caught up on all the leaderboard updates, highlights, breaking news and more from Friday’s second round of the 2026 3M Open.

Friday was cut day with only the low 65 and ties advancing to the weekend. You can always keep tabs on datagolf.com’s projections. The cut kept wavering late in the day:

Scheffler was 3 under through eight, had five straight pars before a double at the 14th, then had two more pars before a bogey at 17, then closed with a birdie to shoot 70 and tie for 12th through 36 holes.
Hideki Matsuyama zooms up leaderboard with torrid back nine
Matsuyama was 1 under through the front nine and in danger of missing the cut but then he caught fire with a birdie on 10 and four birdies in a row on Nos. 12 through 16. He finished his round in a tie for 12th after shooting 65.
Scottie Scheffler is the last man in the field to card a score over par
It took 31 holes but the world No. 1 is the last golfer in the 3M field to card something other than a eagle, birdie or a par. Scheffler’s run ended on the par-4 14th hole when he tugged his second shot left of the green and into a lake. After a drop, his fourth found the green and then it was two putts for a double-bogey 6. Technically he’s still avoided bogey all week so far.

The world No. 1 is in a tie for fifth halfway through Friday’s round.
Michael Kim closes with four straight birdies to shoot 59
Kim banged in a 24-footer on the par-5 18th hole for the 15th 59 (and 16th sub-60) in PGA Tour history.
Now comes the next challenge. Of the 16 sub-60s in PGA Tour history, only five golfers went on to win the tournament. Three of the five got their sub-60 score in the final round: David Duval in the 1999 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, Stuart Appleby in the 2010 Greenbrier Classic and Jim Furyk in the 2016 Travelers, when he posted the PGA Tour’s lone 58.
The last to do it was Brandt Snedeker at the 2018 Wyndham Championship.

Kim is 10 under through 16 holes and he is officially on 59 Watch at the 3M Open. Two more birdies on the par-3 17th and the par-5 18th (or a par on the 17th and an eagle on the 18th) would mean a 59. There have been 14 59s and 15 sub-60 rounds (Jim Furyk has the lone 58) on the PGA Tour.

Kim is 9 under through 15 and has tracked down and tied Kohles for the lead at 11 under. Kohles lead by four shots earlier in the day.

Kim is 8 under through 12 holes, thanks to his hot putter. He made five straight birdies on Nos. 3 through 7 and tack on two more at Nos. 9 and 10. Kim would end up two-putting the par-5 12th but a tap-in birdie there would get him to 10 under and two off the lead of Ben Kohles.
Ben Kohles continuing strong play, builds bit lead
After a first-round Kohles is 3 under through 9 so far on Friday. He has it to 12 under and holes a four-shot lead. Kohles was 98th in the FedEx Cup Playoffs standings heading into the 3M Open.

Friday’s forecast, according to accuweather, called for a high of 79 with “sunny and pleasant” conditions but there are some raindrops falling Friday morning. It’s a light rain and the radar is showing a small cell that should pass over quickly. There is no threat of a stoppage of play as of 10:15 a.m. ET.

More than a century ago, 3M started as a small-scale mining venture in Northern Minnesota, then named Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company.
3M started its title sponsorship of the tournament in 2019. It was a contract in place through 2030.
Where is the 3M Open played?
TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota, was designed by Arnold Palmer with consultation by Tom Lehman and opened in 2000. Previously the site of a PGA Tour Champions event also sponsored by 3M, the course began hosting the PGA Tour in 2019. The private TPC Twin Cities will play to 7,431 yards with a par of 71 for the pros this week.
“The Twin Cities deserves this,” Lehman, a five-time PGA Tour winner and course co-designer, told the Star-Tribune, in 2018 when the tournament was announced. “It’s a great golf market and a great sports market, period. It’s had a Ryder Cup and Final Fours and the Super Bowl. I can understand why 3M would want this, why everybody would want this.”
