Castleford Tigers have potentially suffered two season-ending injuries following their defeat to Wakefield Trinity last week.
Despite playing against 12 men for 50 minutes of the game, the Tigers were beaten heavily, as Daryl Powell’s side put 50 points past them in the third instalment of Rivals Round.
The Tigers had just 35% possession in that game, which is the lowest of the Super League season and the lowest boss Ryan Carr has ever seen.
To make matters worse, the Tigers have likely suffered two season-ending injuries, and they come to some key players.
First, Ashton Golding needed to be helped from the field in the Wakefield defeat. He is now set to miss the remainder of the season, which is a real blow given his versatility.
Carr revealed to the press: “He’s done a pretty bad job on his hammy, poor Ash, which is a shame because he’s such a team first guy.
“He was playing every position for us there for a period, and he’s thrown himself into everything we’ve asked him to.”

Asked if it was bad enough to rule him out for the year, Carr replied: “Most likely, yeah.”
The other player whose season is possibly over is Semi Valemei, who missed the game against Wakefield completely.
The Tigers boss revealed that the Fijian international tore his hamstring in the final five minutes of the victory over Leeds the week prior, but carried on until full-time.
Carr said that Valemei had “potentially” played his final game of 2026.
In more positive news, George Lawler has the potential to return this week. The Tigers host Warrington Wolves, as they hope to get revenge for their worst defeat of the season, when Warrington thumped them 72-6 in March.
