Scott O’Neil is set to meet with LIV Golf players later this week to provide them with an update as he prepares to hold further talks with potential investors in the coming days.

Time seems to be running out for LIV Golf to find a way out of its current predicament. As things stand, it would appear that the league is still yet to find the investment to keep it running into 2027.

What was the biggest error LIV Golf ever made?

The league’s future remains uncertain with still no guarantees it will continue into 2027

And it does seem that some of the players are beginning to run out of patience with those working behind the scenes.

According to a report from Flushing It last week, several LIV players have already decided that they will leave the league at the end of the season, regardless of whether further investment is secured.

But O’Neil is hoping to provide better news imminently.

Scott O’Neil to meet with LIV players later this week

According to The Telegraph, O’Neil will meet with one prospective investor this week who can apparently afford to buy LIV Golf outright. It is not clear whether they are even considering such a move.

Meanwhile, the report suggested that a ‘household name’ is also considering buying in.

And the report adds that O’Neil hopes to meet with players and staff later in the week to provide more information on the talks.

What will not help keep the rumour mill from going into overdrive is the news that LIV is also set to announce this week that the Team Championship will be cancelled, as reported by Flushing It.

LIV postponing the Team Championship will do the league few favours in talks with potential investors

Several players did expect Michigan’s event to be postponed. Nevertheless, it seems to be another significant blow for LIV to have to cancel a second tournament of the season, with New Orleans also disappearing from the calendar.

It also makes you wonder what potential investors must be thinking.

If the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia could spend around $5 billion in four years and fail to turn LIV Golf into a success, it is difficult to know what else can be done to turn the league’s fortunes around.

With several players reportedly eyeing the exit door, and no guarantees that there will be funds for next season, the size of the challenge facing O’Neil seems to only be getting larger and larger.
