“It would be special to win for Josh”: D’Oliveira ahead of Middlesex clash
Brett D’Oliveira said his Worcestershire teammates will be doing everything in their power to get back to winning ways in the Metro Bank One Day Cup against Middlesex, with the side aware of the extra gravitas heading into Friday’s crunch clash.
After a perfect start saw the Rapids go two wins from two matches, the defending champions came a cropper on Wednesday at York and return to New Road with an added incentive to get their campaign back on track.
If facing off against the current table-toppers wasn’t enough, Friday will see a bumper crowd turn New Road blue as the Club comes together to celebrate its annual Blue for Bakes Weekend.
Into its second year, Blue for Bakes 2026 will see the players, staff, supporters and JB33 Foundation weekend cherish Josh’s legacy and champion the exceptional work of the Foundation.
A former teammate of Josh’s, Brett said a victory would be a fitting way to honour the weekend.
“Last year was a very special celebration, and we are really excited to be able to have the chance to honour Josh again on Friday.
“It would be really special to win for Josh, but also his family, friends, and members of the foundation.
“He has a massive place in the dressing room still and is very much in our thoughts, so we are desperate to try and channel that into a good performance tomorrow.
“We will be giving it our all, as we always do, in front of a big home crowd to make it as memorable a day as we can!”
