Kruise Leeming could leave Wigan Warriors before the end of his contract according to the latest reports, with a Super League club identified as a potential landing spot for 2027.

Whilst Leeming is on loan at Catalans Dragons currently, the former Leeds Rhinos skipper remains contracted to Wigan Warriors and that contract runs until the end of the 2027 season.

Leeming’s loan switch to Catalans came as part of the deal that saw Wigan re-sign Oliver Partington to a five-year deal and whilst in Perpignan, the hooker has played a total of 22 appearances.

It’s now been reported by Sky Sports that Leeming is being targeted by Huddersfield Giants for 2027 in a deal that would effectively end his Wigan Warriors’ contract early.

Leeming had signed a four-year deal at the Brick in 2024 when returning from his short spell in the NRL but he may not see it out, per these latest reports.

Kruise Leeming set for early Wigan Warriors exit?

A former England international, Leeming is no stranger to playing in West Yorkshire with the 30-year-old having started his career at Huddersfield before making the move to Leeds Rhinos.

Leeming played a whopping 122 games with the Giants before playing 65 for Leeds Rhinos, during which time they won the Challenge Cup with Leeming earning his sole England cap during that period.

Brad O’Neill has firmly established himself as the starter at Wigan whilst Tom Forber is also signed on a long-term deal, but there is less clarity surrounding the hooker situation at Huddersfield.

Zac Woolford is the Giants’ starting nine and he is contracted for 2027 but his current back-up Cole Geyer is only on loan from Oldham until the end of the season, with the Australian’s future beyond then unclear.

Serious About Rugby League reported earlier in the week that former Hull FC academy player Jeylan Hodgson, the nephew of ex-England international Josh Hodgson, will sign with the Giants but the 21-year-old is yet to make a Super League appearance.

As such, experience such as Leeming’s would be invaluable and his exit would also offer some salary cap relief for Wigan.
