Again, the green space was filled with fans of all ages awaiting true icons of British pop.

But before that, Scouting for Girls warmed up the crowd with a set of their best hits.

Perfect for a sing-along, the band set the tone for a superb evening and engaged with the crowd.

A little speed challenge during Posh Girls earned fan Morgan in the first row the band’s Elvis doll after Elvis Ain’t Dead.

Of course, She’s So Lovely could not be missed from a Scouting for Girls set, finishing off a great performance of the evening.

And with Crashed the Wedding, from the year 2003, the three Busted stars came on stage, starting off with thousands of people singing along in Colchester.

Fans of all ages joined the lyrics of Who’s David – shoutout to all Davids – Thunderbirds Are Go! And, a personal favourite, What I Go to School For.

With Eddy Thrower serving smashing drum solos, and Matt Willis, James Bourne and Charlie Simpson contributing with their guitar performances, Busted made the crowd roar.

Throughout Sleeping With the Light On, the crowd turned into a spectacular sea of lights as Matt Willis asked the guests to turn their flashlights on.

Even a little “history lesson with Busted” was part of the programme, as Matt paid tribute to Colchester’s rich history, its 2000 years of history and ties to the Romans and warrior queen Boudica.

So, it was only fitting to finish this fantastic gig off with a look into the future, to the Year 3000, to be precise, and quite simply the fan favourite.

Just as much as the crowd loved the gig, the band loved the crowd, as Matt said: “We f*****g love Colchester”.

Taking us back to the early 2000s, Busted proved they still have what it takes.
