As ever, a wide selection of films is being shown every three weeks from September to May.
They range from classics like Cabaret and A Matter of Life and Death to more contemporary titles such as Everybody to Kenmure and The Last King of Scotland.
Countries represented in the programme include the UK, France, the US and Italy.
The season opens with the French ‘nouvelle vague’ classic Quatre Cent Coups – described as a lyrical, semi-autobiographical coming‑of‑age drama about a misunderstood Paris schoolboy whose small rebellions spiral into delinquency as he flees unloving parents and punitive authorities toward a fragile glimpse of freedom by the sea
The society has been updating its projection equipment, and KA Leisure has made substantial improvements to the heating in the Valhalladrome.
Under UK film society rules LFS operates as a club, and the annual subscription is £50.
