Ports in the United Kingdom handled 10.83 million TEUs in 2025, representing a 13% year-on-year increase.
Total throughput reached 10,828,300 TEUs, compared with 9,621,500 TEUs in 2024 and 9,090,100 TEUs in 2023.
London drives UK container growth
The Port of London accounted for the largest part of the increase. The figures combine throughput from London Gateway and Tilbury.
London handled 2,802,600 TEUs in 2025, up 56% from 1,801,000 TEUs in 2024. Therefore, annual volume increased by approximately one million TEUs.
Thamesport also recorded strong growth. Its throughput increased by 67% to 156,800 TEUs, according to Dynaliners.
