Terence Atmane’s dream run at the Cincinnati Open has come to an end.
The Frenchman wowed peers and fans alike, defeating a host of high-profile names on his way to the semi-final stage.
Atmane, who also won two qualifying matches, defeated Flavio Cobolli, Joao Fonseca, Taylor Fritz and Holger Rune in Cincinnati.
His impressive run was halted by world number one Jannik Sinner, who won their contest 7-6 6-2.
However, the 23-year-old should be proud of his Cincinnati performance. Defeating the players he has takes talent and skill, not luck.
As expected, the Frenchman’s ranking has skyrocketed following his performance in America, resulting in him overtaking a Grand Slam finalist.

Back in 2014, Kei Nishikori produced multiple displays of jaw-dropping tennis to reach the US Open final.
The Japanese star defeated Stan Wawrinka and Novak Djokovic on his way to the final, before losing to ATP stalwart Marin Cilic in the final.
Since reaching the final, Nishikori has endured an unfortunate, extended period with injuries. During his career, the Japanese player has suffered from hip, ankle, knee, groin, and shoulder issues.

Nishikori has demonstrated incredible resilience to return to the top 100, after being ranked as low as 576 in 2023.
Before the Cincinnati Open, Nishikori was ranked 65 in the world. However, his first-round loss to Camilo Ugo Carabelli has seen him drop 23 places to world number 88, as per the ATP Live Rankings.
Meanwhile, Terence Atmane’s ranking has increased dramatically. The Frenchman was ranked 136 in the world before the Cincinnati Open, but has since risen 67 places to world number 69.
