Anna Foster produced a fine opening 67 to sit just three shots off leader Kajsa Arwefjaell at the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open.
The Dubliner was in the first threesome of the day, and she made a quick morning start with an eagle at the third the highlight of a four-under-par round that contained only one dropped shot.
It was a more challenging day for the other four Irish golfers in action at Golfpark Holzhausern.
Annabel Wilson is in a tie for 66th after a one-over par start.
On reflection, it ended up a positive outcome as she started with a trio of bogeys. Only one more would follow, on her closing hole, with Wilson showing character to get back towards level par.
Aine Donegan entered the event off the back of a brilliant joint-10th finish at the PIF London Championship, but she is in a real battle to make the cut after a five-over par 76.
The majority of the damage was done at the par-five third hole were she had to card a demoralising eight, with bogeys either side seeing her play that three-hole stretch in five-over.
Sara Byrne is a few shots better on three-over par after a birdieless round while Olivia Mehaffey is six-over par.
Arwefjael – who finished alongside Donegan last week – leads Spanish duo Luna Sobron Galmes and Amaia Latorre by one shot.
The Swede finished in a tie for second here last year as Alice Hewson claimed a five-shot victory.
Defending champion Hewson, hunting a historic hat-trick in Switzerland, opened with a round of 68 to make a strong start in her second defence of the title.
