Robert MacIntyre will play no further part in the opening event of the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup Playoffs.
Robert MacIntyre has withdrawn after just one round at the FedEx St Jude Championship.
MacIntyre cited a knee injury after his early exit from the PGA Tour’s opening FedEx Cup playoff event at TPC Southwind in Memphis.
The Scot carded a 12-over par 82 on Thursday, an ugly opening round that included three double bogeys and a triple bogey. He was last by eight shots in the 69-player field after recording his worst ever score on the PGA Tour.
MacIntyre is currently ranked No. 36 in the FedEx Cup standings, so is already safely through to the BMW Championship, in the race to the $40million finale at East Lake at the end of the month.
He had been scheduled to tee off alongside JT Poston at 12:55pm local time on Friday, but informed officials that he would be withdrawing before his round got under way.
It is understood that MacIntyre, who was making his first start since a T28 finish at The Open, has been dealing with a knee strain.
