Photographers submitted images taken from locations including Hudson’s Field, near Salisbury Cathedral and from their own gardens and homes, documenting the changing light as the Moon moved across the Sun.
The eclipse reached its peak shortly after 7pm, when the Moon obscured around 90 per cent of the Sun’s light. It was visible across the UK until about 8pm.

Solar eclipses occur when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, casting a shadow across part of the planet. While partial eclipses can be seen more regularly, the event drew widespread interest from stargazers and photographers alike.
Anyone viewing the eclipse was advised to use approved solar-viewing glasses, as looking directly at the Sun can cause serious and permanent eye damage.
