The conversion of an outbuilding at Magdalen Medical Practice on Lawson Road into an additional clinical room will help meet the healthcare needs of existing and future patients.
Planners for Norwich City Council have now given the application their seal of approval, saying “the additional treatment room is considered to be acceptable, without detriment to local highways networks or the functioning of the site”.
The site currently houses a medical practice and pharmacy on more than 0.3 hectares, which includes a large building and two car parks.
Magdalen Medical Practice, which serves more than 14,500 patients, recently issued a warning to its patients after it reported 271 missed appointments in July.
The doctors say they will continue to remove patients who fail to cancel their appointments.
“We just cannot have this many people not turning up for their appointments monthly,” Magdalen Medical Practice said.
“We are continuing to deduct patients from the practice if you fail to cancel your appointment.”
