Leigh Leopards have moved quickly to bring in a new recruit ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.
Following the club’s win over Leeds on Thursday, boss Adrian Lam revealed that he was hopeful of a new addition joining the club, and they have now done that by bringing in a Castleford Tigers man.
Jack Ashworth departs Wheldon Road, despite the former Hull FC man being contracted until the end of 2027. The move comes in correlation with Leigh prop Lazarus Vaalepu going the other way, though that is only a loan deal until the end of the season.
The 31-year-old joins the club with immediate effect, and has a fresh contract running until the end of 2028. He comes into contention for Lam ahead of Friday night’s game against Bradford Bulls.
The former England Knight is a Grand Final winner, doing so with St Helens in 2019. He has made over 100 Super League appearances, having also featured for Huddersfield Giants in his career.
This year saw him feature 10 times for the Tigers, having found himself on loan and in the reserves for part of the campaign.
