LIV Golf’s season will end in Indianapolis this week – and the prize money payout for players has changed dramatically.
LIV Golf has slashed expected payouts for the end of the creaking league’s season after the cancellation of the Team Championships in Michigan.
The final LIV event of the 2026 season will take place this week in Indianapolis, with the team finale now folded into the individual stroke play tournament at Chatham Hills.
In normal regular individual events, LIV distributes $20million for its 57 players, with the winner banking a $4m cheque. But this week, the individual purse will be set at $10.1million, with the champion earning just over $2million. As was confirmed at the start of the season, the top three players in the individual standings will share a bonus of $10million.
And now the team event will not take place, LIV will also distribute $30million in team prize money at Indianapolis, where the league will instead crown its season-long team champions.
It all means that instead of $70.1million being paid out across its final two events, there will be $40.1million paid out in Indianapolis. Such a dramatic reduction adds to the questions growing around LIV’s finances after the Saudi Public Investment Fund stated in April it would fund the league until the end of the season.
Meanwhile, The Sports Business Journal revealed on Tuesday that some LIV players were still awaiting payment from their winnings at the last event in Bedminster two weeks ago. According to The Athletic, Charles Howell III confirmed that payments hadn’t yet arrived, but was not concerned and says he was told the money would arrive in his bank account on Wednesday.
