Art Deco Ayrshire, by digital artist Rona McSeveny, opened at the McKechnie Institute in Girvan on Friday, August 21, and runs until Saturday, October 17.
The exhibition features more than 30 framed digital prints, reimagining landmarks from Irvine to Girvan in a bold Art Deco style inspired by the 1920s and 1930s railway posters.
Alec Clark, South Ayrshire Council’s policy lead for commercial and operational services, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to see some of Ayrshire’s most recognisable landmarks and landscapes brought to life in a completely different way.
“Rona’s Art Deco style is a great fit for the subject matter, particularly with Girvan’s own Art Deco railway station featuring in the exhibition.”
Rona’s work blends architecture, design, and scenery using the graphic style that once promoted rail travel to Britain’s coastal destinations.
Girvan’s Art Deco railway station, the only operational station of its kind in Scotland, is among the locations featured.
Cllr Clark said: “The McKechnie Institute is an important part of Girvan and South Ayrshire’s cultural offering, and I’m delighted that we’re able to host this exhibition, giving residents and visitors another reason to explore the town and enjoy the work of a local artist.”
All prints on display will be available for purchase.
