Wakefield Trinity could have picked up two more season-ending blows this week, after boss Daryl Powell offered an injury update after last night’s defeat to Wigan Warriors.
Trinity, who lost their third game in a row, now sit fourth in Super League, level on points with Leigh Leopards, who they will face in the final round of the season for a potential shoot-out as to who earns a home play-off game.
Wakefield could well be sat in fifth by then should their run of defeats continue and that could be the case given their mounting injury issues with one season-ending injury feared before the clash against Wigan and another two emerging from that defeat.
Isaiah Vagana missed out with a dislocated shoulder that the club were fearful may end his season but Oli Pratt, making his return from a hamstring issue, has suffered the same injury, whilst forward Matty Storton has picked up a knee issue.
Neither injuries sound like quick-term fixes and in cruel circumstances, both hit positions where Wakefield are already struggling as first-choice winger Tom Johnstone is already out and awaiting scans on his knee, whilst Storton covers the back-row where Vagana is also out.
Spoeaking post-match to BBC Radio Leeds, Powell admitted of Oli Pratt: “He’s redone his hamstrings. That didn’t look great, I don’t know if he’ll need an operation on that, but that doesn’t look great.”
He also confirmed that Matty Storton, who limped off, had suffered an MCL injury that, depending on the severity, could be a bad one.

There was a positive that Caius Faatili passed his HIA but Wakefield will now head into round 25 with plenty of key man either out or facing fitness concerns.
Their injury list stands at; Oliver Pratt [hamstring], Tom Johnstone [knee], Mason Lino [calf], Matty Storton [MCL], Jay Pitts [bicep], Isaiah Vagana [shoulder] and Josh Rourke [knee].
