Valley Way, in Fakenham, will shut to motorists near its junction with the Ridings for 40 metres south eastwards.

This is to undergo cover replacement works, which will be carried out by Norfolk County Council.

The closure will be in place on September 1, with those planning to travel in the area warned to expect delays.

It marks another set of roadworks in the town, following ones announced for Lancaster Avenue and Field Lane among others.

A spokesman for the county council said: “The [traffic] order shall automatically revoke on the completion of the works when the closure is no longer necessary or otherwise on the 13th October 2026 without further notice.

“If necessary, the restriction could run for a maximum period of 18 months from the date the order is effective”.

A diversion route will take motorists via Valley Way, Norwich Road, Warren Avenue, and vice versa.

It will add two minutes onto journey times.
