The first trailer has arrived for the new Ali G movie Who Iz I?, with fans all saying the same thing. After being officially confirmed last month by Amazon MGM Studios, the film’s first footage has landed.
In it, Sacha Baron Cohen’s character returns 20 years later, with the world now “gone to crap” with “COVID, wars and Ed Sheeran”, and Ali has now decided to make a documentary in the US.
We see teases of himself and pregnant girlfriend Julie (played by Morgana Robinson) seeking advice on starting a family amid their expected baby, and promises of drama, romance, plot twists and more, as well as Ali embracing TikTok trends such as ASMR.

Reacting to the trailer, however, some fans weren’t hugely convinced, suggesting that the character may have become too familiar now to go incognito.
“How is anyone falling for this act? Everyone knows who Ali G is. Can’t wait,” one wrote in the YouTube comments.
“There’s no chance everyone doesn’t recognize him, which means all the interactions are fake with actors, which sucks, but I’ll still watch it,” another added, a third writing: “It might be very hard for him to not be recognized after so many famous movies.”
Others also expressed disappointment that the film will take a documentary format like Borat rather than the previous 2002 narrative movie Ali G Indahouse.

“Thought it’d be a sequel to Indahouse. Cba to watch this if its the same Borat and TV Ali G, was expecting more of a movie,” a fan shared.
“Wow, that’s exactly what we needed another documentary in America. Am I the only one that’s disappointed and wanted to see another Ali G movie,” another said.
A third suggested: “Nice of Sacha Baron Cohen to make a carbon copy of Borat 2.”
Ali G: Who Iz I? will be directed by Baron Cohen, whose character announced the title and October release date in July.
“Dey haz finally made a documentary about me. And it ain’t like dat crap one about da penguins, dis one haz got at least twice as much animal sex,” the Instagram caption read. “Ali G: Who Iz I? Cominatcha on 10.23 wotever dat means.”
Ali G: Who Iz I? will be released on 23 October in cinemas.
