Henry Pollock is set to miss Northampton Saints’ opening matches of the 2026/27 campaign as he completes his mandatory rest period following a busy summer of international rugby.
The 21-year-old was involved with England throughout their summer programme, meaning his return to club action is being managed under the player-welfare protocols covering Premiership internationals.
Those regulations are already having an impact elsewhere in the league, with Bristol Bears confirming that Benhard Janse van Rensburg, Tom Jordan and Matias Moroni are all unavailable until the opening round of the Gallagher PREM following their respective international commitments.

POLLOCK SET TO MISS CUP GAMES
For Pollock, that means Northampton are expected to be without their explosive back-rower for the opening rounds of the PREM Rugby Cup.
Saints begin their new campaign with a trip to Saracens on 5 September, before heading to Harlequins seven days later.
Pollock should then be back in contention when Northampton begin their Gallagher PREM campaign against Newcastle Red Bulls at Franklin’s Gardens on 25 September.
Crucially, the absence is not injury-related, with Pollock instead completing the required rest and return-to-rugby period following his involvement with England.
ENGLAND STARS AFFECTED
Northampton aren’t the only club facing disruption at the beginning of the campaign.
The mandatory rest requirements mean a number of players involved in summer internationals will be unavailable for the early Cup fixtures, forcing PREM clubs to turn to their wider squads and academy prospects.
For Saints, Pollock’s absence provides an opportunity for other back-row options to impress before one of English rugby’s brightest young stars returns for the start of the league campaign.
