It is an almost silent week on the rock charts in the United Kingdom. There are two tallies, one focused on albums and another on singles, and nothing debuts on either list this time around. Whenever there is an especially quiet period in terms of new arrivals, that often provides an opportunity for beloved projects to soar, return to previously-established highs or break back onto the rankings after disappearing.
Paramore is one of the greatest beneficiaries of this tame moment in rock music in the U.K. The group scores multiple comebacks this week and fills several spaces on both of the country’s rock-leaning rundowns.
Paramore Scores Two Comebacks on the Rock Songs List
Paramore claims four spots on the Official Rock & Metal Singles chart this week, with two songs climbing and another two returning. “The Only Exception” and “All I Wanted” reenter the list at Nos. 36 and 40, respectively.
“The Only Exception” Reaches Two Years
As it returns, “The Only Exception” celebrates 104 weeks on the Official Rock & Metal Singles chart – exactly two full years as one of the bestselling rock and metal tunes in the U.K. It becomes only the second Paramore track to reach that landmark. “Still Into You” should celebrate 500 weeks on the rundown in less than a month.
Two Paramore Hits Rise Together
“Still Into You” and “Ain’t It Fun” both improve by two spaces on the Official Rock & Metal Singles ranking. The former climbs to No. 14, while “Ain’t It Fun” advances to No. 38.
Paramore has racked up 20 hits on the tally since debuting with “Misery Business” in the summer of 2007. Four of those tunes have reached No. 1, and half of the group’s rulers — “Still Into You” and “The Only Exception” — are present this period. They also rank as Paramore’s longest-running champions, with 17 and seven weeks at the summit, respectively. “Ignorance,” the band’s second hit on the list, managed four frames in charge, while “Misery Business” ruled for a single stint.
Paramore Fills Three Spaces on the Album Chart
Paramore nearly matches its singles showing on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart, which also includes 40 positions. Brand New Eyes slips two spaces to No. 18, Riot! climbs a pair to No. 28 and All We Know Is Falling returns in last place, at No. 40.
Paramore Has Landed Three No. 1 Albums
Paramore has placed five titles on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart in nearly 20 years. Riot!, Brand New Eyes and the group’s self-titled release have all spent time at No. 1. All We Know Is Falling missed out on ruling by one space, while The Final Riot! topped out at No. 8.
Paramore Ranks Among the Week’s Busiest Rock Acts
Paramore is tied for the second-most wins on both U.K. rock charts this week. On the Official Rock & Metal Albums tally, the group matches My Chemical Romance, Metallica and Deftones with three titles apiece, while Linkin Park leads with four.
