Going into Monday’s final, it is Alcaraz who has the edge over his rival.
The duo have met 13 times on the court, with Alcaraz winning eight of their encounters.
In fact, Alcaraz has won five of their last six meetings, one of which was an instant classic in this year’s French Open final.
However, Sinner goes into the Cincinnati Final with the edge given he came back from a set down to beat Alcaraz in the final of Wimbledon in July.
No matter the outcome of Monday’s final, it marks the first time they have played each other more than three times in a calendar year as it will be their fourth encounter.
Previously, they had met three times in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

On paper, it’s safe to say Sinner has had the easier route than Alcaraz to the final in Cincinnati.
At the tournament, Sinner has not played a single opponent ranked in the top 25.
In fact, two of his rivals in Cincinatti were ranked outside of the top 100, including his semi-final opponent Terence Atmane who is 136th in the world rankings.
The highest-ranked rival he faced was Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime, who he comfortably dispatched 6-0, 6-2 in the quarter-final.
Sinner has also not dropped a single set the entire tournament.
The same could not be said for Alcaraz, who has gone the distance in two of his five games.
Additionally, he had to overcome Andrey Rublev and Alexander Zverev, who are ranked 11th and 3rd in the world respectively, en route to the final.
