Final Fantasy 7 Revelation’s physical edition will “require” an Internet connection to play.
Unlike its predecessor Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which famously shipped on two discs, the latest game will be available on a single Blu-ray only.
A disclaimer from publisher Square Enix reads: “An internet connection is required to download additional game data in order to play the physical version of the game.”

It should be stressed in the current climate that this is true across all platforms: Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 will require downloads too.
The game will take up around 130GB on Nintendo’s machine, so expect a similar number on the PS5 – perhaps even more when you account for higher resolution assets et al.
The reason for the mandatory download is because there’s simply not enough room on a single disc to include the full game, so you’ll be required to download additional data from the Internet in order to play the game.
Two physical versions will be available at launch: a standard edition and a Deluxe Edition.
Specially marked day one copies will come with an exclusive Magic the Gathering card, while the Deluxe Edition will also bundle in a physical soundtrack, physical art book, and steelbook case.
