The original PS2 Ratchet & Clank game from 2002 is coming to the PS5 via emulation later this year – and it’ll include an all-new Platinum Trophy to unlock.
Insomniac’s communications veteran James Stevenson confirmed the tidbit on social media earlier today, meaning fans will have an opportunity to earn a third Platinum in this all-time platforming classic.
The first game in the franchise is already available via the Ratchet & Clank Collections on both PS3 and PS Vita, but this is the first time it’ll be playable natively on the PS5.
Yes you /finally/ won’t have to stream the PS3 version anymore!
And you can platinum it again 😉 https://t.co/vorfPF60En

In fact, a fourth Platinum should be available courtesy of a separate PS4 version, as all of Sony’s emulated games tend to be available on both flagship formats.
The original Ratchet & Clank is an all-time PlayStation classic, thanks to its varied third-person gunplay and sharp sense of humour.
Many prefer the original to its 2016 PS4 remake, as some fans believe Insomniac rounded off Ratchet’s personality in the new version, as he was a total asshole in the inaugural game.
Personally I like both, and I’m looking forward to revisiting this classic with my PS Plus Premium subscription. Don’t worry if you’re not a member, though – this should be available to purchase a la carte as well.
