The US Open is a unique major. The Masters has Augusta National, The Open has the links, and the US Open has the brutality.

Pinehurst No.2 hosted an almighty championship in 2024, culminating in Bryson DeChambeau beating Rory McIlroy in one of the greatest major events in recent history.

McIlroy agonisingly missed short putts on holes 16 and 18 to surrender the tournament to DeChambeau who roared in a par putt on the 72nd hole to win his second US Open title, after splashing a remarkable bunker shot from the greenside sand under immense pressure.

This was one of the most memorable US Opens for some time. J.J. Spaun then won his first major title at Oakmont in 2025, in what was a damp and wet tournament in Pittsburgh.

In 2026, Wyndham Clark doubled up on US Open victories, holding off Sam Burns at Shinnecock Hills. He went into the final round with a commanding lead, but as tends to be the case with any US Open, it is never that easy. Burns agonisingly missed out on tying Clark, who came through to earn his second major championship.

For 2027, we head to the grandeur of Pebble Beach. Host of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on the PGA Tour, the major will offer a very different test than the ones the players will face in February. It will be held for the seventh time on the Monterey Peninsula, with Gary Woodland winning in the 2019 edition. Its past champions are among the sport’s finest, Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson all triumphing on the famous links.
