Ukraine’s presidential chief of staff Kyrylo Budanov said
they were in Kyiv while sharing footage of a meeting with the U.S. delegation.
“Glad to welcome the U.S. delegation led by Steven Witkoff
and Jared Kushner to Kyiv. We have a busy day and important talks ahead.
Representatives of our European partners — France, the United Kingdom and
Germany — are also in Kyiv,” Budanov wrote in the video caption.
He added: “We are all working together to achieve a just and
lasting peace for Ukraine.”
Reuters reported that national security advisers to the
leaders of the United Kingdom, France and Germany had arrived in Kyiv.
The Reuters source did not specify which meetings they would
attend.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, meanwhile, announced that
talks had begun.
Earlier on Sept. 6, U.S. President Donald Trump’s special
representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Ukraine for the
first time to take part in talks aimed at ending the war.
They were met by Ukraine’s presidential chief of staff
Kyrylo Budanov and his deputy Serhii Kyslytsia, Foreign Intelligence Service
chief Rustem Umerov and Servant of the People parliamentary faction leader
David Arakhamia.
They later met with President Zelenskyy at St. Sophia
Square.
On Sept. 5, Witkoff and Kushner held more than three hours
of talks with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in Moscow. The Kremlin said
Trump’s special envoys presented Putin with their ideas on possible ways to end
Russia’s war against Ukraine.
