ITV’s tense thriller series Trigger Point is back for a fourth season, with Vicky McClure returning to the role of bomb disposal expert Lana Washington. She is joined by Eric Shango, Nabil Elouahabi and Natalie Simpson, who reprise their respective roles.
The story picks up with Lana seeking therapy for the various losses she has experienced, including her brother Billy and fellow EXPO Rich. She doesn’t have much time to dwell, however, as the Counter Terrorism Unit is called in when London is rocked by a wave of devastating bombings.
Under the watchful eye of their new boss (played by The Hardacres star Julie Graham), Lana and her team have a race against time to discover who is behind the attacks, all while keeping the population safe.
As well as adding Graham to the cast, this season also includes the return of Manuuv Thiara, Kerry Godliman, Christopher Hatherall and Tom Glenister. McClure, meanwhile, serves as an executive producer alongside Jed Mercurio and Chris Brandon.
When will Trigger Point season 4 air on ITV1?

The first episode of the fourth season launched on Sunday 30 August, and was quickly followed by the second instalment on Monday 31 August. They both aired at 9pm on each night, with the channel being ITV1.
While all episodes were immediately made available to stream on ITVX, if you want to watch the tense drama in the traditional way, ITV1 is continuing to show only two episodes per week.
The first of the week comes on Sundays, before the next part the following night. That means that the next episode, which is the fourth of the season in total, will air on Monday (7 September).
There are six episodes in total, so the penultimate instalment will be broadcast on ITV1 on Sunday (13 September), followed by the highly-anticipated season finale on Monday (14 September).
What did we say about Trigger Point season 4?

In Digital Spy’s four-star review of the first two instalments, we praised the show’s “stomach-dropping” scenes, and opined that the season made for “riveting viewing” from the outset.
“Viewers will find themselves more gripped than ever. Mainly because, while the show retains its gritty, pulse-pounding energy, it remembers to drill down deeper into what the real appeal is: its characters and those core relationships, starting with Lana.”
“If its third series focused on the impact of Lana’s job and the more recent traumatic experiences on her wellbeing, the fourth sees her confronting those issues head on,” we added.
Will there be a Trigger Point season 5?

A fifth season of the popular procedural thriller is yet to be confirmed, but McClure hasn’t ruled out the possibility of returning to the role of Lana Washington in the future.
In an interview with Radio Times, when asked about a potential fifth season, she said: “Who knows? For me, it always boils down to the audience. They’re the deciders and, my word, they’ve been so supportive to Trigger Point over the years.”
