The 9/11 Watch Party will take place in Bournemouth on Friday, September 11, as part of the Adam Curtis Party Conference and will mark 25 years since the September 11, 2001 attacks.
The immersive event will recreate the experience of watching the attacks unfold live on television, just as millions did on the day itself.
Pierre d’Alancaisez, the event’s curator, said: “That the live television images of September 11th attacks would define the twenty-first century was evident even to the news anchors as they narrated the events.
“So much so that the archive video reveals them revising the story as it unfolds, creating a true conspiracy in real time.
“The anniversary affords an opportunity to review once more the raw television image, our hyperreality’s fundamental building block.”
Attendees will be asked to surrender their mobile phones before viewing real-time news footage, commentary, and the early emergence of conspiracy theories—all without modern distractions.
The event ties closely to Adam Curtis’s 2016 documentary HyperNormalisation, which examines how governments and media institutions have constructed simplified versions of reality in the post-Cold War era.
Originally presented in London in 2024, the 9/11 Watch Party was organised in collaboration with Ed McKeon and produced by James Youarn.
It will take place at the Wild Café in Boscombe.
