Ireland claimed two silver medals on the final day of the 2026 UCI Para Cycling Road World Championships in Huntsville, Alabama to bring their final tally to one gold and three silver medals over the course of the four days.
Heather Jameson delivered Ireland’s first medal of the final day, claiming silver in the Women’s C2 road race on her World Championship debut.
With temperatures approaching 30 degrees Celsius and humidity around 70% in Huntsville, Jameson completed the 55.2 km race, which consisted of four laps, in 1:41:54, three seconds behind Switzerland’s Flurina Rigling. Jameson led home a group of six riders who were all credited with the same finishing time.
Jameson completed the four-lap, 55.2km race in 1:41:54 to earn the first World Championship medal of her career. Switzerland’s Flurina Rigling won gold in 1:41:51, with Jameson leading home a six-rider group that crossed the line three seconds later.

Jameson said: “I’m absolutely over the moon. I really, really and truly am. I’m so happy with the performance.
“I came here feeling really good. We put in a lot of work, especially since the European Championships in June, and I gave it everything I had out there. The race was fantastic and really suited me. It was a little bit on and off, but I knew I had enough left at the end, so when it came to the line, I gave it everything I had.”
The silver capped an excellent World Championship debut for Jameson, who finished fifth in Friday’s individual time trial before stepping onto the podium in Monday’s road race.
Sinead Greenan and pilot Alice Sharpe – pictured above – claimed their second silver medal of the Championships in the Women’s B road race, bringing Ireland’s final medal tally in Huntsville to four.
Greenan and Sharpe completed the 82.8 km race in 2:03:30, the same time as Great Britain’s Sophie Unwin and Jenny Holl, who took the world title after a closely contested finish. Italy’s Marianna Agostini and Noemi Lucrezia Eremita claimed bronze in 2:03:32, two seconds behind the winning tandem.
The result gave Greenan and Sharpe their second podium finish in three days.
The pair also won silver in Saturday’s Women’s B individual time trial, their first World Championship race together, completing the 29.2 km course in 37:28.08 behind Irish team-mates Katie-George Dunlevy and Linda Kelly.
Dunlevy and pilot Kelly finished seventh in the Women’s B road race in 2:03:37, just seven seconds behind the winners. Their Championships had already been marked by gold in the individual time trial, where they secured a fourth consecutive world title in 36:55.48.
Richael Timothy placed sixth in the Women’s C3 road race, crossing the line in 1:32:19 after 55.2 km. Timothy finished five seconds behind China’s Xiaomei Wang, who won the world title in 1:32:14, and improved on her ninth place finish in Friday’s individual time trial.
In the Men’s B road race, Damien Vereker and pilot Mitchell McLaughlin finished ninth in 1:58:31, 45 seconds behind Spanish world champions Imanol Arriortua Zorrilla and Mikel Aristi Gardoki.
Ciarán O’Toole and pilot Con Scully placed 16th in 2:10:07 on their World Championship debut. The Men’s B race covered seven laps and 96.6 km, with the winners averaging 49.22 km/h.
