The long-running massive multiplayer game Star Trek Online is getting in on the 60th anniversary excitement with the announcement that their next season has a big focus on Spock and will feature the voices of multiple Spock actors.

Peck, Nimoy, and Michael as Spock

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds star Ethan Peck is the latest actor to make the jump into gaming, adding his voice to the Star Trek Online: Rediscovered, the upcoming season from the MMO. But he is not the only one, as Rediscovered brings Spock through the ages to Star Trek Online, with Peck as Lieutenant Spock and Piotr Michael as Captain Spock. Michael won wide praise for his work voicing Ambassador Spock in the 2023 game Star Trek: Resurgence. Rediscovered also reintroduces original archival dialogue from Leonard Nimoy as Commander Spock, “bringing his iconic performance back to the game as part of this celebration of Star Trek’s 60-year legacy,” according to STO publisher Arc Games. The new update was announced as part of Star Trek Online and Beyond streaming event celebrating Star Trek Day.

Nimoy, famously, was the first Star Trek actor to feature inside Star Trek Online, voicing Spock — and an overall narrator — as part of the game’s 2010 launch. The much-loved actor, of course, passed away back in 2015. Sadly, there’s no sign of Zachary Quinto reprising his role as the Kelvin Timeline Spock in this 60th anniversary celebration. According to Arc Games and Cryptic Studios, it’ll be Peck and Michael doing most of the heavy lifting, though Nimoy’s likeness and audio will certainly play a part as well.

Rediscovered continues the storyline established in Undiscovered

Rediscovered will continue the revitalised storyline established in Star Trek Online: Undiscovered, and as such sees the return of both Lisa LoCicero as Voyager‘s Lieutenant Miral Paris and Jon St. John as Klingon antagonist B’vat; the latter, video game fans may note, also provided the vocal stylings for video game icon Duke Nukem.

“Captains must… unravel the mystery behind the disappearances of Lieutenant Miral Paris and Ambassador B’vat,” Arc and Cryptic said of Rediscovered‘s new story mission. “Her final message on the Gateway Planet will send players on a temporal chase across Star Trek history where captains meet Spock through the ages and continue the quest to stop B’vat!”

As per usual, players will also gain access to a new Task Force Operation, one set in space and titled “Know Thy Enemy” alongside a new event, a 60th anniversary starship icons prize pack, a paid mini-bundle including a Starfleet 2259 medical jumpsuit and holographic Spock bridge officers, and the ability to gift select Zen Store bundles to other players.

PC players gain access this month, console players in November

PC players gain access to Rediscovered from September 22, while those on Xbox and PlayStation can play starting November 10. Alongside today’s news, Arc and Cryptic also detailed a content roadmap for the remainder of this year and the start of next, plus complete details of what to expect on both PC and console. We’ll get updated PC graphics improvements — “experimental” ones, mind you— sometime in October, and new starships spanning Star Trek (2009), Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Enterprise, and Star Trek: Starfleet Academy all before the end of February 2027. Star Trek Online is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One, and PS4, and also playable on Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5 through backwards compatibility.
