Animal control officers responded to find an estimated 1-year-old, 100-pound bear in the tree, police said.
New Hampshire animal control officers and emergency personnel came together to tranquilize and retrieve a bear “hanging out” in a tree in Manchester Wednesday.
Shortly after 7 a.m., police received a report of a bear in a tree near Amory Street and Notre Dame Avenue, according to a social media post by Manchester, New Hamphsire Police.
Animal control officers responded to find an estimated 1-year-old, 100-pound bear in the tree, police said.
New Hampshire Fish and Game came to assist and the bear was tranquilized. However, the bear then climbed higher up the tree, police said, so the fire department came to the scene with an aerial bucket to help a Fish and Game biologist safely retrieve the bear.
The bear was transported to another area of New Hampshire, where it will be released back into the woods once it fully wakes up, police said.
