Ilkley members leads Yorkshire to title as 11th ace secured

They defeated Cumbria 6–1 in the final Richardson Trophy match at Furness Golf Club.

The victory secured the prestigious trophy for Yorkshire as the top Northern County, ending a 10-year spell in which Cheshire had held the title.

It was a particularly special moment for Yorkshire, who last lifted the trophy in 2015.

Northern Counties captain Julie Wheeldon presented the trophy to Yorkshire Seniors captain Wood, and the victorious Yorkshire team.

The celebrations also included a special presentation from Wood to Ruth Skaife-Clarke, recognising her incredible 100th cap for Yorkshire.

Ilkley have been racking up the achievements this year, with Lee Holmes on scoring a hole-in-one at the 15th during the Monthly Medal.

Remarkably, this is the eighth ace recorded by an Ilkley member this year.

As for Holmes, this was just another one to add to the collection, as it was the ELEVENTH hole-in-one of his career.
