Saira Hussain, founder of HAD & Co, is a finalist in the Forty Under 40 United Kingdom Awards, which celebrate young leaders across various sectors.

Born in Burnley, Ms Hussain launched her first practice in the town and has since expanded into Blackburn and Manchester.

She said: “Being named a finalist for the Forty Under 40 United Kingdom Awards is an incredibly humbling moment.

“I am immensely proud of my roots in Burnley, where I started this journey.

“My career has been built on navigating a traditionally male-dominated industry while balancing the intense demands of raising three young children.

“It has not always been easy, but I am driven to push through the barriers that often constrain women in this field.

“I hope this recognition serves as a powerful message to other young women: your ambition is valid, your voice is necessary, and you belong at every table you choose to sit at.”

HAD & Co is a female-led architectural practice offering services across architecture, planning appeals, building control, heritage projects, and change of use.

The firm has also been recognised by Burnley College and Manchester College for its contributions to student development.

Ms Hussain is also known for her work outside the office, regularly lobbying government departments and stakeholders to shape business and policy environments.

The Forty Under 40 Awards are an internationally recognised platform that celebrates young leaders across various sectors.

“This prestigious recognition celebrates exceptional young leaders who are shaping the future of their industries through innovation, leadership, and a commitment to excellence.”

The UK winners will be announced at a gala ceremony on November 8 at The Hilton Paddington Hotel in London.
