And Roglic, a rival turned team-mate, has been quick to welcome the Belgian with open arms.

“He’s special,” he told Nieuwsblad and In de Leiderstrui. “Remco has already won quite a few races, so I hope we can achieve great things together.”

Evenepoel won gold medals in the time trial and road race at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, while he is also a former world champion.

Asked if the move can help the team win a yellow jersey at the Tour de France next year, Roglic said: “The Tour is still a long way off.

“The last one only just finished, and it’s not yet certain whether I can actually ride it next year. But, of course, we will work hard to achieve the best together.

“We still need to make progress, and hopefully we can improve together. The team is growing, but there’s still a gap with Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard.”

Evenepoel and Roglic have shared six Grand Tour wins over the course of their careers.

Roglic has claimed the Vuelta a Espana four times and has a Giro d’Italia on his CV, while Evenepoel enjoyed Vuelta success in 2022.

“[Evenepoel] brings not only exceptional athletic talent, but also a remarkable mindset,” Red Bull CEO Ralph Denk said.

“His determination, professionalism, and relentless drive to succeed are truly inspiring.”

The 2025 Vuelta begins in Turin, Italy, on August 23, but Roglic and Evenepoel will be absent from the race.

The Red Bull team at the Vuelta will be led by Jai Hindley, with Giulio Pellizzari, Giovanni Aleotti, Nico Denz, Finn Fisher-Black, Matteo Sobrero, Jonas Koch and Tim van Dijke in support of the 2022 Giro d’Italia winner over the three weeks of the final Grand Tour of the season.

Jonas Vingegaard of Visma-Lease a Bike will be the favourite, and you can follow the action live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
