The BMW PGA Championship has a habit of humbling some of golf’s biggest names.
The West course at Wentworth’s tight fairways, narrow landing areas and water hazards annually trip up star players during the DP World Tour’s flagship event. And it so it proved during the 2026 edition of the Rolex Series tournament, which has a mammoth prize purse.
Patrick Reed, the Race to Dubai leader, was forced to withdraw with a wrist injury after a horrendous start to his second round at the famous Surrey venue.

Big names who missed the cut at the BMW PGA Championship
Brooks Koepka (+1)
Koepka is spending hours on the practice ground with his coach Pete Cowen trying to find the secret in the dirt. But his trip over Europe has so far been fruitless, with this missed cut following a T55 at the Amgen Irish Open last week.
Tommy Fleetwood (+3)
“It’s a great course and I always look forward to playing it,” Fleetwood said in his pre-tournament press conference on Wednesday, “but all hasn’t always gone my way so far.” Fleetwood says his “execution has not been as good as my visualisation” on the West course and the same problems appeared with rounds of 73 and 74.
Nicolai Hojgaard (+8)
A week to forget for the Hojgaard twins. Rasmus withdrew during the opening round of the inaugural Biltmore Championship on the PGA Tour. Nicolai, meanwhile, followed his opening 71 with an 81, which included a quadruple bogey eight on the ninth hole.
Jon Rahm (+11)
A disastrous and almost unfathomable week for Jon Rahm and the worst 36-hole score of his decade-long career. Rahm has plenty going on – he is expecting a fourth child and his LIV Golf future is about as secure as his driving was at Wentworth – but this performance was alarming nonetheless.
