With homemade food, fresh coffee and countryside settings, these are some of the venues that should not be missed when taking a trip to the county.

1. The Goat Shed

Founded by Sam and Caroline Steggles, The Goat Shed began life as an honesty shed in what is now the car park.

Over the last five years, it has grown into a hub where customers can eat, shop, play and stay, as well as visit the farm’s Boer goats and Simmental cattle.

This expansion has led to it winning awards such as Broadland Retailer of the Year and Best Visual Identity from The Farming and Agricultural Sector in the Transform Europe Awards.

The farm shop is also hosting its first-ever pumpkin festival to celebrate the autumnal season.

2. Norfolk Foodhall

The Norfolk Food Hall at the Norfolk Showground is a large farm shop, deli and restaurant celebrating the county’s food producers.

The food hall has an in-house butcher, a deli counter and sells a range of fresh food, including sweet and savoury baked goods.

The site also has a 220-seater restaurant and a private hire space called the garden room, which can hold around 100 people for events, meetings and conferences.

3. Church Farm Hethersett

Church Farm Shop is a family-run farm shop and café on Norwich Road in Hethersett.

Based on a working farm, it has become a much-loved local destination for fresh produce, homemade food and friendly service.

The shop stocks its own farm-grown produce alongside food from local Norfolk suppliers and customers can buy fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, bakery products, eggs, preserves, drinks and other grocery staples.

In the springtime, they are known for their indulgent treats, combining a chocolate Easter egg with homemade brownie, creating a dessert designed for anyone who enjoys an especially generous Easter sweet.

Families travelled from as far as Essex to get their hands on the indulgent treat.

4. Walsingham Farm Shop

Walsingham Farm Shop is located at the heart of the historic village of Little Walsingham.

Fruit, vegetables, meat, poultry, wine and deli products are all available in store.

The store was crowned the regional champion for the East of England in the best local food and drink category of the Countryside Alliance Awards in 2023.  

5. Algy’s Farm Shop and Café

Algy’s is a family-run farm shop and café at Manor Farm, near Dereham.

The business grows its own seasonal vegetables and stocks produce from Norfolk farmers, dairies, bakeries and artisan producers.

The café serves breakfast, lunch, cakes and homemade treats, with the kitchen open seven days a week.

Visitors can also plan trips around seasonal events, including pumpkin picking, producer tasting days, afternoon tea and Friday-night pizza from the farm’s oven.
