It was a busy week for the Princess of Wales last week, as she joined her husband, Prince William on a joint engagement on the Isle of Bute in Scotland. While it was the couple’s first trip to the location, there’s another member of the Royal Family who’s been there before and, according to Kate, is quite a fan; Princess Anne.
In a relatively unseen clip captured on the island (rather than as part of the Prince and Princess’ official footage, which is publicly shared across the couple’s official accounts), Kate discusses the Princess Royal, and reveals a list of activities she’s hoping to complete next time she visits the island. ‘I’m going to go for a swim, apparently there’s a sauna that appears, live music, apparently that’s really good,’ Kate lists off on her fingers as she chats with members of the crowd, sharing what appears to be recommendations from locals she’s met during her visit.

However, Kate adds that, while she’s just getting to grips with what there is to do on the Isle of Bute, Princess Anne is already familiar with the area. ‘I know the Princess Royal comes sailing, doesn’t she, round here? Absolutely, I can see why. She often shows us her photographs. It’s really beautiful,’ she said.
The Princess appeared to be enjoying her conversations with residents on the island so much, that Prince William had to come back and hurry her along. In a sweet clip circling on social media, he jokes, ‘you need to speed up!’ pointing at his wrist to indicate she’s taking too much time. Kate continues shaking hands and stopping for photos, trying to move more quickly up the line, as the crowd claps and cheers for the royal couple.
The Prince and Princess began their trip by giving shinty a go, a traditional sport on the island. Kate later took a tractor ride to learn about community efforts to preserve Bute’s coastline before the couple made their way to the local pub.
