Burnham-On-Sea’s Avenue Tennis Club hosted a busy day of junior tennis when referee Pippa Lawton organised and ran two well‑supported tournaments for youngsters who attend coaching with Head Coach Tim Seymour and the popular Vinny’s Minis Friday night sessions.

The competitions were held for orange and green ball players, with no red ball event this time as the youngest group are still building the skills needed to serve, rally and play full matches.

Each tournament was split into two boxes, with the winners progressing to a final and all other players taking part in their own play‑off matches to ensure plenty of court time for everyone.

Jayden took the overall win in the orange ball event after a closely‑fought final against Darcy, with both players producing long rallies and impressive consistency throughout. The green ball tournament followed the same format, with Archie overcoming Sophie in a high‑quality final that saw excellent athletic play from both competitors.

The club says junior and adult coaching for the September 2026 term is now underway, with sessions running across the week for all age groups.

Saturday mornings offer red and yellow ball coaching, while Tuesday and Thursday afternoons cater for orange, red and yellow ball players. Cardio Tennis takes place on Mondays and Thursdays, and an adult skills, drills and match‑play session runs on Friday evenings until October 16. Individual lessons are also available directly through Head Coach Tim Seymour.

Junior members can continue to enjoy free Friday night tennis throughout the year, led by qualified LTA coaches Vinny Duddy and Megan Rundle. Sessions run from five o’clock for ages four to seven, six o’clock for ages eight to under eleven, and seven o’clock for those aged over eleven. Parents are welcome to relax in the clubhouse bar, which serves hot and cold drinks during the junior family evening.
