Ronald McDonald House Maine hosts 34th annual golf tournament fundraiser
OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine —
Three dozen teams of golfers hit the links on Monday for the annual Southern Maine Golf Tournament hosted by Ronald McDonald House Maine.
The fundraising event celebrated its 34th year, but it marked the first time it was held at Dunegrass Golf Club in Old Orchard Beach.
All proceeds from the tournament go to Ronald McDonald House Maine, a nonprofit organization that supports families who travel long distances for specialized pediatric care in Bangor and Portland.
Ronald McDonald House Maine programs helped more than 800 families in 2025.
“When families find themselves needing specialty pediatric care, most of them are either heading to Bangor or coming to Portland, and they’re traveling hundreds of miles,” said Ronald McDonald House Maine CEO Julie Mulkern. “The last thing they want to worry about is where they’re going to put their head at night and where they’re going to get their next meal.”
The 36 teams that participated in the tournament raised more than $100,000 — including Maine’s Total Coverage anchor Jon Chrisos and the WMTW Channel 8 team.
