An Australian venture capital-backed satellite network start-up that communicates data from Bluetooth-enabled devices anywhere in the world has become a unicorn in its latest funding round.

The Seattle-based Hubble Network has raised $US200 million ($285 million), valuing the company at $US1.6 billion in a later-stage funding round led by a San Francisco-based venture capital firm established by the former co-chief executive of Salesforce.
