The New Cunninghame Art Club is ready to welcome new members as it launches a fresh programme starting next month.
The club is set to begin its latest season of visiting artist evenings with the return of the acclaimed Martin Oates, who will deliver the club’s first demonstration of the year on Thursday, October 1.
The demonstration will focus on creating depth, atmosphere and mood in watercolour paintings using just a single colour, highlighting how effective monochrome techniques can be in producing striking artwork.
Club members say the evening offers an opportunity for both experienced artists and complete beginners to develop their skills and gain inspiration from a professional artist.
The event will take place at the Argyle Community Centre in Saltcoats, with doors opening at 7.15pm ahead of a 7.30pm start. The demonstration will run until 9pm.
Entry costs £2.50 on the night, while an annual membership of £20 covers all 10 demonstration evenings held throughout the season.
The club is keen to attract new members and prides itself on being open to anyone, regardless of age or artistic experience.
Anyone interested in joining or finding out more can follow the New Cunninghame Art Club Facebook page for updates on activities, exhibitions and workshops, or contact club secretary Susan Montgomerie by email at susanmontgomerie51@hotmail.co.uk
Demonstration evenings are held every second Thursday from October through to March, while the associated Phoenix practical art group meets on alternate Thursdays at 7pm at the Argyle Community Centre. Sessions cost £3 and welcome all abilities.
