Shropshire and Herefordshire Under-14s faced Staffordshire Under-14s in their final inter-county match of the season at Hawkstone Park on Saturday, September 19, battling through blustery conditions on the challenging championship course.
Captain Dylan Walters and 10-year-old partner Jacob Child secured a crucial half, with Jacob sinking a three-foot putt on the 18th green.
The team won the match 3.5–1.5.
Alex Meek and Leo Norman continued their unbeaten home record with a 1up victory, thanks to a four-foot putt from Alex on the final green.
Ollie Lambert and Henry Gurney took an early three-hole lead, were pegged back to all square, but finished strongly to win 2up.
Rufus Treharne and Jacob Parry came from behind to win 2&1, with Rufus carding an impressive three-over-par round.
Ollie Evans and debutant Ollie Perrott started well but were edged out in the closing holes.
The team will next play Church Stretton Seniors and Shropshire and Herefordshire Seniors during the October half-term break.
