It’s a massive weekend of Super League action with the men’s competition down to the final four, who all sit one win away from Old Trafford, whilst the women’s Grand Final takes place on Sunday, so what better time for predictions?
Last weekend saw Wakefield Trinity end Leigh’s campaign, as two of our writers predicted, and Warrington knock off champions Hull KR as Peter Smith predicted, although he was an agonising one point off a perfect score with George Williams’ drop goal ruining his prediction.
As for York Valkyrie beating Leeds Rhinos and setting up Sunday’s Grand Final against Wigan Warriors, not one writer picked it, so there’s plenty of room for improvement on this week’s predictions.
The action starts on Friday night at Headingley as Leeds Rhinos bid to win a first play-off game since 2022, whilst opponents Warrington Wolves are aiming to make it to the Grand Final for the first time since 2018.
Saturday sees Wigan Warriors welcome Wakefield Trinity to the Brick Community Stadium before Wigan’s women aim to complete a second consecutive domestic treble when they host York Valkyrie in Sunday’s Women’s Super League Grand Final.
Our picks for all three games and an updated season-long leaderboard can be found below.

Super League play-off predictions
Leeds Rhinos v Warrington Wolves – Friday, 25th September @ 8:00 pm
Peter Smith: Leeds 22-18 Warrington
The visitors have to be favourites, based on recent form and Rhinos’ injury setbacks, however, Leeds will start winning knockout games at some point and now would be a good time.
Sam Cook: Leeds 14-21 Warrington
It’s so hard to ignore Leeds’ recent home form and now the injury issues are even more concerning. The loss to Wigan and probably even Leigh can easily be explained but the loss to Hull FC, the first game in a system designed without the injured Lachie Miller, was alarming. In contrast, Wire look to be growing stronger and they’ll really fancy this now that Leeds’ home form has dipped at a pivotal stage of the season.
Sam Brocksom: Leeds 12-26 Warrington
The losses of Miller, Handley and Bird are obviously a blow for Leeds, but this game is perfect for Wire skipper George Williams and young halves partner Ewan Irwin to take it to the two Dream Team halves and show that it really could be Warrington’s year.
Wigan Warriors v Wakefield Trinity – Saturday, 26th September @ 5:30 pm
PS: Wigan 16-24 Wakefield
Though it wouldn’t be wise to put your house on it, Wigan are due a defeat and Trinity are a good side, capable of creating a massive upset.
SC: Wigan 28-16 Wakefield
Wakefield’s path to victory is for their forward pack to be perfect and really get after Wigan, which they can do, but they also need to execute in attack and on this stage, where they’ve not been before, it’s hard to back them – especially when Wigan are on such an impressive winning run.
SB: Wigan 26-12 Wakefield
I’m expecting a similar scoreline in both men’s games, with both semis set to be nip and tuck before one team pulls away. It seems stupid to back against Wigan at this stage, but a week off could come to hinder them if they don’t use it right.
Women’s Super League Grand Final predictions
Wigan Warriors v York Valkyrie – Sunday, 27th September @ 5:30 pm
PS: Wigan 40-10 York
York are the only side to beat Wigan this season and did well to win last week’s semi-final at Leeds, but Tara-Jane Stanley suffered a concussion in the final moments and that was also a knockout blow to Valkyrie’s chances.
SC: Wigan 48-10 York
It’s a somewhat disrespectful prediction to make in respect to York, who have really kicked on in recent weeks to secure their path to this Grand Final, but Wigan are a different beast. They’ll be reeling from the loss to York, who are without Tara-Jane Stanley, and I expect the Warriors to try and break records here – as they’ve done in past Challenge Cup Finals.
SB: Wigan 40-8 York
This game would have been a lot closer if Tara-Jane Stanley was fit, but after failing a HIA against Leeds, I expect Wigan to pick up their second consecutive treble.
Predictions Leaderboard:
1st: Peter Smith – 149 (+2)
2nd: Sam Cook – 147 (+1)
3rd: Sam Brocksom – 137 (+0)
