Ness Point Coffee House in Lowestoft – based in a former fisherman’s canteen at Battery Green Road on the docks – closed for the final time today (September 25), ahead of a move to its new base just two doors down.

The café will relocate to the Fisherman’s Mission building at the port entrance, with plans to reopen in around two weeks time as renovations begin.

Located next to the Wightman Fishing Co family-run business, Steve and Emma Wightman took on the lease and decided to bring the building back into use – transforming it into a community café for locals and port workers, with the Coffee House now run by chef Beverley Sonnex.

Emma Wightman, of Wightman Fishing Co, said: “Ness Point Coffee House is relocating into the Fisherman’s Mission building at the entrance of the port.

“Over the next few weeks, extensive renovations will be undertaken to turn this building into an oasis of calm.

“The vibe will very much follow the current café’s theme, with lots of plants and natural wood.”

The café serves homemade food including breakfast baps, sandwiches, paninis, quiches, salads, Scotch eggs, and daily specials, along with cakes and barista coffee.

On their final day in the current location, ahead of the move, Ness Point Coffee House staff said on social media: “It’s definitely a little emotional saying goodbye to this little space, but we’re also so excited for what’s coming next!

“And remember… we’re only moving two doors down into the old Mission Building on the corner of the harbour.”

They reassured customers that it will be the “Same coffee, same homemade treats” in a “New little home.”

In addition to the café move, Ness Point Smokehouse and Wightman Fishing Merchants, both run by Wightman Fishing Co, will also be relocating nearby to Newcombe Road in Lowestoft in the coming weeks.
