Jake Paul’s tweet on the potential cancellation of Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua is going viral.
The two biggest names in British boxing have been in countless negotiations to meet in the ring over the last decade, but the bout has never become a reality.
After years of frustration, though, it briefly appeared that the fight was set, with an announcement being made on Thursday that the pair would meet on the 11th of December at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

Unfortunately, within less than 48 hours, it had all fallen apart. As first reported by The Ring’s Mike Coppinger, ‘issues’ between several of the parties involved ‘could see the fight called off’.
While Coppinger didn’t go into any more detail, Fury himself soon took to social media to accuse Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn of being the man responsible for scuppering the fight.
Hearn had consistently stated that Joshua would pull the plug on the fight if UFC (and Zuffa Boxing) boss Dana White has any involvement in promoting it.
That didn’t stop Netflix from mentioning White in their press release announcing the bout. Crucially, during their announcement, there was no mention of Hearn (or Frank Warren, Fury’s long-time promoter).

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua were originally scheduled to fight in December, but the fight is now in serious doubt.
With Joshua having signed a contract that explicitly prevents White or UFC owner’s TKO, from having a promotional role in the fight, the entire event appears to be on the verge of collapse.
Since the news broke, some have insisted that the rivalry between Hearn and White should be allowed to derail the fight. Jake Paul, however, disagrees.

The social media personality, who was knocked out by Joshua in their own boxing match last December, took to Twitter, where he backed ‘AJ’ and Hearn for making a stand. Adopting an uncharacteristically reasoned approach to the controversy, he wrote:
“If I sign up for a big budget movie and make it clear I don’t want to work with a specific producer, like, say, a Harvey Weinstein, you can’t, after the fact, just try and coerce me into working with him. That’s basically the situation Anthony Joshua is in. He’s ready to make the movie on the terms he signed up for.”
Summing up the general reaction in the comments, one fan declared: “Jake Paul talking straight facts wasn’t on my bingo card!”
Given the apparent breakdown in relations, Saudi Arabian power broker Turki Alalshikh has reportedly already begun to look at alternative fights, with a replacement opponent even being touted for Fury.
Unless a solution can be reached, it appears that the most-anticipated fight in British boxing history is once again off. With both men now well into their mid-30s, it remains to be seen if it will ever happen.
