London Broncos have earned promotion for 2027, after defeating Leigh Leopards convincingly to take their spot in the Women’s Super League competition next year.
The Championship side racked up a 36-6 win over their Super League counterparts, who were forced to fight for their place in the top flight after finishing bottom on points difference.
London raced to a 24-6 lead at half-time, scoring five tries including two tries from Australian centre Nicole Kennedy. She has spent this season on dual registration at Leeds Rhinos, and that experience certainly showed this afternoon.
After scoring one in the first half, Broncos winger Hermione Titcombe scored two more early in the second half to complete her hat trick. Despite scoring seven tries in the opening hour, only two goals were kicked making for a 32-6 scoreline.
Titcombe would bag a fourth score in the final moments of the game, increasing the lead further and cementing herself as the player of the match.
It’s been an incredible season for the London Women, who ended the season as Championship Grand Final winners following last week’s 28-10 win over Manchester Swinton Lionesses.
With the way the Women’s Super League format works, that then allowed them the opportunity to compete against the top flight’s wooden spooners, with the winner taking the eighth and final spot in next year’s competition.
