Homes across five south London boroughs and two Surrey boroughs may have no water or low pressure due to a large burst water main, Thames Water has said.
The company said the issue was affecting customers in postcode areas across Kingston upon Thames, Merton, Richmond upon Thames, Sutton and Wandsworth in London, as well as Elmbridge and Spelthorne in Surrey.
A Thames Water spokesperson apologised for the lack of water, adding: “Our specialist team is now on site and working to stop the water flooding from the broken pipe.”
The organisation said the following postcodes may be affected: CR4, KT1, KT10, KT12, KT2, KT3, KT5, KT6, KT7, KT8, SM4, SW16, SW17, SW18, SW19, SW20, TW10, TW16.
Thames Water said it had “rerouted water around the area”, and customers in the Surbiton area should see their water return shortly, albeit with lower pressure than normal until the pipe is fixed.
“Unfortunately, owing to the location of the burst, it’s likely to take some time to fix,” they said.
The organisation said that bottled water would be delivered to customers who are registered as water dependent on its Priority Services Register, external.
