Former Hull FC performance consultant Jon Clarke has landed a new job at an NRL club.

Clarke was appointed by the Black and Whites as a consultant to support the club’s now former conditioning staff ahead of pre-season training in 2024. The role was predominately online with the former Warrington Wolves hooker tuning in to assist Hull’s staff and put together a plan while working full-time at Manly Sea Eagles.

However, Hull later moved in a different direction, and ahead of pre-season 2026, have significantly boosted their performance staff with several appointments, most notably Jimmy McDaniel and Dave Ferguson, while Sue Thompson, Kieran Smith and Harry Brook will also bolster the conditioning and performance of the club this autumn.

Meanwhile, Clarke will now move from Manly to Brisbane Broncos, working under former Wigan Warriors coach Michael Maguire.

He is one of the highest rated conditioners in rugby league. After playing, he worked with Widnes Vikings, Warrington Wolves, the England rugby union team, and the British and Irish Lions side – the highest representative level in the elder code.

After his stint in union, Clarke moved to Manly with his latest job seeing him move to Queensland to work with the 2025 NRL Premiers.

A club statement from Maguire read: “JC has worked at the highest levels of rugby league and rugby union, and brings a depth of experience that will be valuable to our entire football programme.

“He’s respected for the standards he sets and the relationships he builds with players and staff. We’re excited to welcome him to the Broncos.”
